Commissions on Aging in Connecticut
AgingCT is proud to partner and support the mission of the Commissions on Aging in Connecticut (COACT). The mission of COACT is to create a strong statewide network that connects and supports volunteers serving on Commissions on Aging (COAs) and similar organizations across Connecticut. Through education, resources, collaboration, and advocacy, we empower local COAs to strengthen their effectiveness and enhance the quality of life for older adults in their communities.
AgingCT works with COACT as members and partners in this mission.
Funding Opportunities
AgingCT is designated by the Federal and State government to allocate funds to regional communities based on the needs identified in the Area Plan. Title III of the Older Americans Act requires funds to serve individuals age 60+ with some exceptions for caregivers. Check back January through March for the latest Request for Proposals.

The Area Agencies on Aging utilize Older Americans Act funding to provide a continuum of services including meals, in-home care, caregiver respite and care management that allow older adults to age safely in their home. The State Health Insurance Program (called CHOICES in CT) provides free, unbiased, individualized counseling on Medicare options. Evidence-Based Health Programs help people maintain the quality and quantity of life. Most Americans do not realize the connection between this funding and the essential services they receive.
